In recent years, bluefin tuna fishing in the waters off Japan has become no longer a dream, with fish weighing over 200kg. The development of the Stand-Up Tuna series began with the aim of achieving a “single, head-on battle with the rod standing” against monster-sized fish, which is more like a fight than fishing. Currently, the mainstream method is a tug-of-war using the strength of the reel and line, but this method has the disadvantages of taking longer to fight with the fish because the rod’s repulsive force is not transmitted and it is difficult to put pressure on the fish, and the size that can be reeled in is more limited than in a fight with the rod standing up. In order to reel in a larger size in a short time, a standing fight that makes efficient use of the rod’s power is ideal, and above all, anglers have the desire to face a larger fish with a standing rod. Until now, tuna rods were mainly very powerful with a lot of tension throughout, but this required a lot of power and stamina from the angler.
